2005 - Present

Client Needs

Union City wished to increase its diversion rate in an effort to achieve Alameda County’s 75% diversion goal.  The City sought consultant assistance to work with new City staff and its new franchise hauler to provide technical assistance to businesses, schools, and multi-family dwellings.

HF&H Solutions

HF&H is assisting the City of Union City in the stimulation and improvement of their recycling programs, especially related to small business recycling and organics, multi-family recycling, school recycling and organics, residential food waste, and electronics recycling events.  As part of our scope of services, we conducted door-to-door business outreach efforts.  We are planning a multi-family outreach and site visit program that HF&H will conduct in the spring of 2007.

Results

  • Conducted on-site waste assessments of all schools and facilities of the New Haven Unified School District, and provided recommendations for enhanced diversion; and,
  • Promoted recycling services to 194 businesses.
